What is Scorpion Solitaire 1 Suit?
Scorpion Solitaire 1 Suit is a simplified version of classic Scorpion Solitaire designed for smoother play and higher win rates. The rules and tableau layout remain the same as in standard Scorpion, but instead of playing with all four suits, the deck is stripped down so that every card belongs to the same suit. With no cross-suit conflicts to worry about, sequences are easier to form and untangling the tableau is far less punishing. It’s a great variant for learning the mechanics or for players who prefer a more relaxed challenge.
How to Play Scorpion Solitaire 1 Suit
Objective
As with the original, the aim is to build four complete descending sequences from King to Ace within the tableau. Once a full run (K→A) is achieved, it automatically transfers to the foundation pile. You win when all four suit runs are completed.
Setup
- Deck: 52 cards, all from the same suit (e.g., all spades).
- Tableau: 7 columns × 7 cards each (49 total).
- Columns 1–4: the lowest three cards are face-down, the rest face-up.
- Columns 5–7: all cards dealt face-up.
- Reserve: 3 leftover cards remain face-down until dealt. At any point, you may place one card onto each of the first three tableau columns — but only once per game.
- Foundation: Completed King-to-Ace sequences automatically move here. The game ends in victory when all four runs are completed.
Rules
- Building: Build strictly downward within the suit (for example, place 9♠ on 10♠).
- Moving stacks: Any face-up card may be picked up along with all cards stacked above it, provided the move continues a valid descending sequence in the same suit.
- Flipping cards: Turn over face-down cards immediately when exposed.
- Empty spaces: Only a King (or a stack headed by a King) may be placed into an empty column.
- Stock deal: The 3 reserve cards are dealt once, one per column to the leftmost three piles.
- Completing runs: Once a full K→A sequence is built, it is automatically removed to the foundation.
Strategy Tips
- Take advantage of the single suit: Without worrying about mismatched suits, you can focus purely on order and space management, making stack moves easier to plan.
- Clear hidden cards quickly: With fewer obstacles to sequencing, revealing the face-down cards in the first four piles becomes even more valuable.
- Use Kings to anchor runs: Emptying a column for a King still opens major opportunities for reorganizing sequences.
- Save the stock for emergencies: Wait until progress slows before dealing the three extra cards, as they can either unlock the win or complicate your setup.
- Keep options open: Even though the game is easier, it’s still important not to lock yourself too early into long runs that limit flexibility.
Why Play Scorpion Solitaire 1 Suit?
This single-suit variation removes the harshest part of Scorpion Solitaire — mismatched suits breaking your runs. The result is a gentler, more approachable game that still rewards clever stack manipulation but allows for a much higher success rate. It’s ideal for practice, casual play, or simply enjoying Scorpion’s mechanics without the frustration of frequent dead-ends.
