Solitaire data for research
Solitaire Land keeps a record of every finished game: which game, which deal, how long it took, how many moves and whether it was won. Since April 2024 that is more than 16 million games of 26 solitaire games, played in 46 languages. If you study games, decision making, attention or how people learn, you are welcome to use these numbers. They are free.
What we can share
- Win rates for each game and type of deal (random deals, winnable deals, daily challenges and levels).
- How long and how many moves a game takes: distributions of play time and moves for won and lost games.
- Countries: games and win rates by country.
- Daily challenges: every day's deal of each game, with how many people played it, how many won and how long a win took.
- How many deals can be won: our solver's verdict on samples of deals of every game (solved, proven impossible, or not settled), as in our article How many solitaire deals can actually be won?
For examples of what the data shows, read How often do people win at solitaire?
What we never share
Only totals of many players leave our servers, never data about a person. There are no names, accounts, emails, IP addresses, cities, device or browser identifiers and no times of day. Every number built from players' games comes from at least 20 different players; smaller groups are left out, or pooled with no country named. Our Privacy Policy explains what we collect.
How to ask
Write to [email protected] with who you are, your project and the period and games you need. We send the tables as CSV files with a short description of each column. If you need a breakdown that is not listed here, ask: we will say whether we can make it without putting anyone's privacy at risk.
Using the data
You may use the data in research, teaching and articles. In return we ask you to cite it as "Solitaire Land research dataset, https://www.solitaireland.com/research-data/", with the period, and to link to solitaireland.com wherever the work is published online. Please do not try to identify any player from it, and tell us about anything you publish: we like to read it.
